Custom Molds

Unique geometries may require complex molds. Concrete or silicon casting can be done using 3D printed molds. The example is for a “secret” project we had done recently. The order was urgent. I (or rather the printer) worked nights on this one.

I’d recommend nylon or high grade materials rather than ASA plastic. Though molds tend to consume a lot of material. The example uses nearly 800g of plastic and prints for 16h. My printer is equipped with 0.8mm nozzles, thus can print large parts about 4x faster than normal. 1kg of ASA is about 35 EUR. Designing this mold took me about 1h.
